DIY Faucet Extender

I’ve been looking around for a faucet extender, but hadn’t been able to find one locally.  My friend Laurie suggested I make one!  I got a flour scoop for $2.97 and Aaron did the rest.  He cut most of the handle off so it would fit, drilled a hole through what was left of the handle, and used a zip tie to attach it.  Super easy and 1/4 of the price of the real thing.  Now Jonah can stand on his little stool and actually wash his hands and brush his teeth at the sink.

Jonah’s room, French, and a birthday

I got a weird burst of energy yesterday and rearranged Jonah’s room a bit.  He must like it, because he’s spent far more time in there today than he usually does.

Tonight is my first “live classroom” thing for French 2.  It’s like a voice chat with the teacher and the whole class that lasts an hour.  I don’t know exactly what to expect, so I am super nervous.

Lastly, happy birthday to my awesome brother!  Jonah wanted to send his uncle a special birthday wish, so we sent this to him on Facebook.  😉

hug

I decided to take a nap with Jonah the other day because he had woken up at 5:15 that morning, and we were both exhausted.  At one point during the nap, he woke up, reached his arms out, and said “uuuhhhhh” (that’s Jonah for “hug”), and then cuddled right up next to me after he got his hug and went back to sleep.

That, my friends, is why you become a parent.

Totally going to be a musician when he grows up.

a photo

I have about 10 minutes before Jonah gets back from visiting his grandparents, so really quickly I wanted to share a picture of him being sweet and cuddling after nap time yesterday.  Over the past few days he’s been in a great mood the majority of the time.  I’m hoping this is what it’ll be like all the time after he’s done teething!

I do have a post I want to write about Jonah’s eating habits, but I don’t have time now (but long story short: he’s a typical picky toddler who never wants to eat, and of course that worries me).  Hopefully I can really get to it this weekend!

ex-vegetarianism

On July 1, after 14 years of being a vegetarian, I began eating meat again.  I know that a lot of people will be really surprised by this, because most people I know have only ever known me as a vegetarian.  It was a really hard decision and I struggled with it a lot.  It’s hard to give up something you’ve been doing for so long.  But, in the end, I think it was the right decision.

I wasn’t as passionate about vegetarianism as I used to be.  It’s a decision I made when I was 12.  I’ve also had a lot of trouble with my weight and have never been able to lose all the weight I gained when I was pregnant (35 lbs, which is on the very high end of what was “acceptable” to gain at the size I was).  In fact, my weight had begun to creep up further and further over the past several months.  It’s really hard, in my opinion, to eat well as a vegetarian when you don’t have a lot of money to put into it.  You end up eating a lot of boxed processed pastas and rices and stuff.  I’m now eating a sort of lower-carb diet, and I feel pretty good.  Eating meat is still really strange, but I’m slowly getting used to it.

So, anyway, there’s my big announcement.  I feel like I’m oversimplifying the whole thing, but I guess there really isn’t all that much to it.  Discuss if you’d like.

reading

“Hi, mom!  I’m going to read some books, okay?”

“Maybe I’ll look at this one…”

(I can’t get any privacy around here.)

(Maybe if I turn this way…)

“Okay, seriously, mom!  I’m trying to concentrate!”

The end.
